In connection with their project, Stilllife-Train as part of the 14th Bremer Kunst Satelliten, Claudia Piepenbrock and André Sassenroth have put together a program on their stay and encounters in Russia, entitled present tensions. In this context, on Saturday 24th of June they will present their publication moving still-life, published by Marian Arnd, in which they have compiled their works, most of which were created in transit. In addition, two further events taking place at the same weekend will be presented by partners from their network established on their trip. On the one hand, the video program Echoes. Documentary Films in exile, curated by Svetlana Bogdanovskaya, shown at n.a.s.a. on Saturday night and a talk in the context of “Everyone an Island After All?” by Elena Ishchenko (Russian) Colonial Violence: Counter/Monuments on how to deal with commemorative manifestos in the shadow of Russian colonization efforts, held at GAK on Sunday afternoon.

moving still-life explores the effect of time and distance on our perception and understanding of reality. Claudia Piepenbrock and André Sassenroth embarked on a journey through Russia in 2021, during which they spent over 600 hours moving in buses, trains and ships. On this intense journey together with other artists they found ways to question the transformation of views and conditions as well as the ambiguity of modes of observation. Contrast and coherence of movement and stillness form the perspective of the book, in which the various stations, performances, scans of handwritten notes, field recordings, greeting cards with instructions for action, lots of film style, a series of projections in public space, quotes and guest contributions by the authors and artists have been brought together.
