Offene Ateliers Bremen Neustadt 2024
Studios, workshops, editions - and three musical performances
Künstler:innenhaus Bremen invites you to the Open Studios Bremen Neustadt 2024 on Saturday, 4 May from 11 am to 6 pm and on Sunday, 5 May from 11 am to 6 pm. Six visual artists will provide an insight into their studios and present their works; two creative businesses will showcase their work in the workshops and studios. Visitors to the Künstler:innenhaus will be able to gain an impression of the diverse creative production in Neustadt under one roof.
The artists currently working at the Künstler:innenhaus - Monika B. Beyer, Paula Hurtado Otero, Julia Paškeviciute, Bojana Petkovic, Michael Rieken and Hassan Sheidaei - invite you to visit their studios and engage in informal discussions about their work. The wood workshops of Martin Wilmes will also be open. Wilmes was awarded the Grassi Prize in 2020. Designer Dieter Fehling will open his office and provide insights into his creative work. Visitors can linger in the courtyard with drinks, coffee and cake.
On Sunday, 5 May, the musical performance “el cuerpo ausente - the absent body” will take place at 2, 3 and 4 pm in the guest studio of the Künstler:innenhaus. A collaboration between the Bremen musicians Johannes Haase (violin) and Christian Vásquez (flute), with the Chilean artist Victoria Jolly Mujica and the Chilean musician and composer Sebastián de Larraechea. Both come from Ciudad Abierta, an experimental building project in Chile where a utopia of architecture, poetry, art and music has been lived since the 1970s. The collective was a guest at documenta 14 in 2017. The long-standing collaboration between Johannes Haase and the Chilean artists will be presented for the first time in Bremen as part of Open Studios Bremen Neustadt.

The gallery is also open and presents annual editions and editions - i.e. artworks that can be purchased - by artists who have worked in the studios of the Künstler:innenhaus currently or in the more than 30 years of its history, such as Anna Bart, Katja Blum, Christiane Gruber, Franziska Keller, Rebekka Kronsteiner, Sarah Lüdemann, Norman Sandler and Michael Schmid. Half of the proceeds will go to the artists of the works and the other half to the Künstler:innenhaus Bremen.
