An exhibition concept by Elmgreen & Dragset.
“It is completely open, direct, explicit, without any obscurity or ambiguity.”
(Robert Barry)
Just imagine an exhibition showing non-existing works of art. The only visual and physical elements presented in the empty exhibition space would be the captions with the relevant data on the works.
The artworks are formed exclusively by each visitor to the exhibition, they carry their own works within them and can take them home.
The exhibition Not a Drop but the Fall is a plea to our imagination, which actually bestows real life on art – Jorge Luis Borges once spoke of the unique breakthrough that enabled him to create his metaphysical Ficciones: instead of writing novels, he would write critiques of them, as if they already existed.
The artist-duo Elmgreen & Dragset will give this imaginary exhibition its form. Involved are the artists: Pawel Althamer, Robert Barry, Maurizio Cattelan, Ceal Floyer, Coco Fusco, Isa Genzken, Jens Haaning, Christian Jankowski, Jay Chung & Q Takeki Maeda, Simon Dybbroe Møller, Kirsten Pieroth, Paola Pivi, Mia Rosasco, Roman Signer, Andreas Slominski, Danh Vo, Klaus Weber and Artur Zmijewski.
On the occasion of the exhibition a catalogue will be published by Revolver with a text by Stefan Heidenreich and an interview with Elmgreen & Dragset.
