Opening: December 1, 2024

Paule Potulski understands the materials of her research-based artistic practice as independent actors. In intensive processes lasting several years, she explores the material found in her environment for its inherent knowledge.
Potulski devoted her one-year residency at Künstler:innenhaus Bremen to working on an essay film about her family’s migration history. To this end, Potulski visited the Polish village where her parents grew up, where she spent her childhood summers and where her grandfather still lives, and filmed impressions and conversations with family members. Together with her father’s video footage from the 1990s, she weaves a non-linear narrative across several generations. The final presentation shows an intermediate stage of this cinematic survey.

Paule Potulski (b. 1991 in Bremen) studied Fine Arts with Prof. Natascha Sadr Haghighian and Prof. Katrin von Maltzahn at the University of the Arts Bremen, as well as at the Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, Okinawa, JPN and at the Silpakorn University Faculty of Arts, Bangkok, THA.
Exhibitions (selection): 2023, Gesellschaft für Aktuelle Kunst, Bremen, University of fine Arts, Chiang Mai, THA, Silpakorn University, Bangkok, THA.
