Intervention is intended. Intruding, going inside, entering and departing provoke a house-invasive intervention that exposes the Künstlerhaus Bremen as a programmatic and traditional venue of artistic production, arranged and formed around its studios. This theme makes up the starting point of the exhibition, which meanders through and around the studios. The Künstlerhaus operates as a model and abode of aesthetic surveys: Thresholds are to be set in motion, opening and closing between interior and exterior spaces, between being indoors and outdoors. The project aims at drafting a space of reflection, one which investigates the conditions of how we make and view art. It addresses the context of display, working constellations and spatial situations.

The exhibition not only takes place in the individual artist studios but also in passageways, staircases and the guest studio. The guest studio holds special place within the house; it is a work and temporary living space for artists and symbolically represents the transitory, but also the provisional habitation and domestication in a global residence. The participating artists presently have their studios in the Künstlerhaus, have earlier been guests there or live and work in other cities and countries. They conceived interventions, performances and participatory projects for this occasionthat reflect the production conditions of art. The works will develop further over the course of the exhibition, either by means of the participation of the public or the artists; interventions.

The house is comprehended as a test assembly: Through inclusion and exclusion, standing still or passing through the spaces, a ‘house working; will be explored and observedat threshold situations between spatial conditions and spatial behavior that put the boundaries between working spaceand exhibition space up for discussion.
