Exchange Bremen/Dortmund 2025

This year’s two scholarship holders: Babette Martini from Dortmund and Sara Förster from Bremen

The Bremen artist Sara Förster is currently a guest at the Künstlerhaus Dortmund as part of our exchange program.
In her artistic work, she questions the permanence of photographic image units and their perception. She makes the original material visible and encourages decelerated viewing of photographs. For her artworks, she uses found slides, Polaroids, cyanotypes, photograms and luminograms and explores the material anew.
In Dortmund, she continues her exploration of the materiality of photographic media - and raises questions that go beyond the original image motif.

She will be accompanied in Dortmund by Babette Martini, who will be coming to Bremen as part of the exchange in July.

Babette Martini’s artistic practice focuses on the emergence and formation of the expression of identity - influenced by many years of living and working in Great Britain and returning to the Ruhr region, where she grew up.
where she grew up. The blue sky plays a special role for her. It stands for infinity, vastness and freedom. In the scientific field, blue sky thinking takes on the meaning of a space in which new, unbound and non-goal-oriented ideas can be developed. For Babette Martini, it is a place of possibility for creating new forms of being oneself.
