Workshop with the Feminist Healthcare Research Group

(Inga Zimprich/Julia Bonn)

In the face of social and personal crises, we often feel overwhelmed. Our experience of crises is above all shaped by our efforts to hide them from others and to manage them alone. This suppression into the private sphere reinforces our feelings of being alone and unwelcome with our emotional crises, the desire for change, and the emotional labor required to deal with conflicts. In this workshop we would like to work out the significance of crises as times of emotional work in which we can learn (from each other) and support each other.
In this workshop we make use of exercises and create space for exchange: What are concrete resources that we can fall back on in situations of crisis? What has proved to be helpful for us in previous crises? What did we learn from them for future experiences of destabilization and vulnerability? How do we ask for the support we need?

The workshop is aimed at all people (including those outside the cultural field) of all genders.
The workshop is held in German, translation into English on request, non-German speakers welcome!

  • The Feminist Healthcare Research Group (Julia Bonn/Inga Zimprich)

has been testing how practices of mutual care can be applied in the art field since 2015. It questions ableist production logics in the art field and develops self-empowering, feminist perspectives on health care. It is also interested in how it can support discussions and demands for non-discriminatory, accessible healthcare from the field of art.

  • The event is a cooperation between the Künstlerhaus Bremen as part of the event series “Ein Haus für Künstler*innen” (A House for Fe*male Artists) and the Künstlerinnenverband Bremen, GEDOK on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2024.

  • “Ein Haus für Künstler*innen” (A House for Fe*male Artists)

is a series of events building on the internal discussion of a suitable gender-appropriate name for the Künstlerhaus Bremen. Through lectures, discussions, workshops and artistic contributions, the series aims to give space to external perspectives on the question and to include other institutions and artists’ residences in the discussion.
