The first edition of the Visiting Curators project is taking place this year and aims to facilitate meetings between curators from abroad and artists from Bremen. The programme is the result of a collaboration between the working group for the development of artist support in Bremen (BBK-Bremen, Künstlerinnenverband Bremen, Hochschule für Künste Bremen, Städtische Galerie Bremen and Künstler:innenhaus Bremen). It was supported by curators who work at Bremen institutions and have generously included curators from their neighbourhoods.

Within this framework, five external curators are invited by the city of Bremen to meet with Bremen artists in person. The appointments take the form of portfolio reviews and are intended both to familiarise the participants with the work of Bremen artists and to offer an external perspective on their own work. All Bremen artists can participate.

Based on the short biographies of the curators invited this year, the Bremen artists can express with whom they would like to meet. We would like to point out that the short biographies and viewing dates of the respective curators are enclosed with this announcement and should be taken into account. The artists should also name a second curator as an alternative choice. In a second step, the external curators themselves determine the final selection of artists with whom they will meet.
