Guest Residency 2025: Farideh Jamshidi

We are delighted to welcome artist Farideh Jamshidi as a guest fellow at Künstler:innenhaus Bremen in September 2025. She was elected as the 2025 guest resident by the members of Künstler:innenhaus Bremen and nominated by Hassan Sheidaei.

In her artistic practice, Tehran-born artist Farideh Jamshidi uses installations, drawings, textiles, performance, video, and photography to explore themes such as identity and female physicality. In doing so, she repeatedly refers not only aesthetically but also in terms of content to the world of her former homeland, Iran. In her multi-perspective images or architectural models, for example, she questions Western viewing habits.

Central, recurring elements in her work are above all repetitive patterns and ornaments, which she often creates using analog photo collages.

During her residency in Bremen, Jamshidi is particularly looking forward to meeting the artists at the Künstler:innenhaus Bremen: “For me, artists’ houses are inspiring and creative places. That’s why I’m confident that it will be good for my work.”

Farideh Jamshidi (born in Tehran in 1967, lives and works in Hamburg) studied fine art at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg and received her diploma in 2003 under Prof. Franz Erhard Walther. In addition to numerous exhibitions in Germany and the Netherlands, Jamshidi has received several scholarships and project grants, including a project grant from the Kulturbehörde Hamburg (2022) and the Neustart Kultur scholarship from the Stiftung Kunstfonds (2022). Alongside to her artistic practice, Jamshidi has curated several exhibitions, including “FORMA, Part 1” at the Rote Flora (2024) and “FORMA, Part 2” (2025) at the Frappant Gallery in Hamburg.
